He actually didn't disclose his identity, and was instead confronted about the issue. Like you said, he isn't the sort who would be able to flat out reject his own father, particularly when pressed. Likewise, he doesn't approve of his real name being used, which is something we're working up to addressing in character. He's been in game for a couple weeks now, so while this is the first time he's landed on the network (something he's not thrilled about), this isn't something that's happening the moment he showed up in game.
Additionally, I pulled him from after he's defeated by Shirou in Unlimited Blade Works. Taking into consideration that he doesn't appear (nor does a large amount of time pass) between that point and the end of the route when he speaks to Rin, I don't think it's entirely unreasonable to reason that he's found a small amount of closure in regards to his identity and ultimate fate. No, he's not saved from the counter guardian system, and he still carries the burden of his mistakes and regrets, but he's able to say "please take care of me" to Rin in regards to Shirou. I've been working out how to balance the closure there with the rest of his character, because I do think it's a tough note to strike.
So basically, I do know I've been having some trouble finding my footing in regards to handle so issues, and it's something I've been aware of, but that post certainly isn't a "right away" thing.
I understand the cord is hard to strike. He's a very complex character and doing it right is a challenge, so I can see where you're coming from. Like you said, UBW is him finding closure with Emiya Shirou and that he can't change things because of his own self-loathing and selfish desires. He has to let Shirou live knowing that there are limits to what he wants, which is why he asks Rin to take care of him. So I agree with you on that.
I went to the log comm and saw Archer threaded with Kiritsugu before this post, so I think I have a better grasp of where this post came from. Though I'm still not quite sure that Archer would admit to being Shirou so easily, seeing how he weaseled out of admitting his real identity before (telling Rin that he just didn't remember), I do see your reasons for having him admit it all the same because of his canon point.
One last thing that isn't really related to this. I hate to nitpick but
He's been in game for a couple weeks now
I went to Archer's tag and saw your first thread was with Draco on the 15th. Asgard has a 2 OOC = 1 IC day policy, so Archer hasn't even technically been in game for a week ICly wise. I hope this won't come off as rude, because I'm really not trying to be, but I do think you should keep in mind the game's pacing in relation to your character's development and reactions to what happens. Thank you for your time.
Oh, I meant that in relation to ooc time. Sorry for not being clear on that, the holidays have sort of warped my memory in terms of the passage of time. I'm aware of how days pass in Asgard. Just. Apparently not in the real world.
